To be aware to our environment is to take the position of us as human who thinks and has a relation closely with anything around us. If we neglect to keep it, we ruin the absolute rule that human is inherent in ecological system pervading us. In eco-phenomenological perspective, humankind has to understand not only the nature is, but also what its relation with himself.
Now, every year on 5 June, World Environment Day has been celebrated to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the Earth. Nevertheles, this celebration sometimes feels like only a celebration appartently as usual; a superficial ritual which is not given an intrinsic value addressing human behaviour and thrusting collective consciousness. Unfortunately, this false consciousness had been affecting multi-dimensional sides that institutionalised ignorence and reproduced catastrophe of enormous dimensions.
Seeing these situation with cynical sight and scornful face have been sinking us in mud of antipathetic exertion shallowly. To observe human dilemma can be found on lavishness consumtion without considering the impacts to environment particularly. Smokers suck their cigarettes anywhere they want. Citizens consume needs with large quantity. Gas emission has not been levied to pay air risk and water pollution and to reduce utilising of it greatly. The state might be useless when it was on a position vis-à-vis companies. Suffering causes of these started from a failed counting of the risk of our ignorence to environment. Thus, gradually awareness celebration just touch the surface of idea and enthusiasm.
Finally, the crucial conscious which has been raised is structural view that fill in hollow polical action on environmental awareness, whilst the individual action of social institution reestablish it on another side rarely. Should we celebrate World Environment Day everyday? No, we should not. We are going to feel for it everyday when it embodies in political and social rules.
