An Ethnography of Post-Adolescent People in Pakamban Laok (first part of unorganised field notes)
Pakamban Laok is a village in southwest Sumenep regency located in east Madura, East Java. The boundaries of Pakamban are lines of camphor hill in north side, that spreads over the back of the island, and Madura strait in south side. This village is also passed by a little river at its center which has been being as "water pipe" for residents, except in long dry season.
The daily activities of the majority of residents are as farmers and fishermen; farming unirrigated agricultural fields for the first ones who have lived in field far from the sea and fishering for the second ones who have resided in coastal areas. Besides as farmers, the first group that was mentioned above also works as animal breeders, such as cow, chicken, and goat, that they share out their suplus values between them and the owners after harvest moments. Indeed, they are devided into two groups, yet their economic situation has been identical in the size and the measurment in toto.
An emotive subject in this village is social condition of the residents who enter early twenty years old. This is a periode stated as post-adolescent. In urban view, they grow to be mature people exceedingly. They are quite properly still be seat at chairs of class degree at universities. In contrast, because of a striving of socioeconomical factor, they have to enjoy to earn money and needs for their families everyday.
An'am, a twenty old person who was taking a rest from his work in his dry field when he was met, said, "Someday, your legs will be on a first step at maturity which gives of responsibilities that you cannot decline solely. The first step does not care for your ability to do. Sometimes you are ready to grasp what you must behave in, or you lose to accede it on other time." He looks like feel too tired when he told. He used the "you" as pronoun to image of himself.
These situations have been frequently experienced by people in early post-adolescent periode who have grown up at rural families, whilst people who reside at urban places and are in the same age as them study at university. These are seen too paradox if everyone in a country truthfully has had the equal chances to learn and develop their prosperity.
