Lucid Dreaming in Echoes

This first capture of this movie is Anna lying on a bed of her room in unspoken condition which is known after as lucid dreaming. She is a woman writer who has appreciated had mental illness record; sleep paralysed. For resolving her pre-sleep problem, she has drunk some medicines in order to sleep well and restrain her from exasperation. Besides that, she also has haemorrhoid and dislikes flower. Apparently she got some nasty experiences, she has alerted by getting ready to call 911 when her boyfriend, Paul, has come to visit her.

Paul remembered her to his glass house in Joshua Tree for having time off. In there, they enjoyed their time. Suddenly, Paul changed her medicine with vitamin C without clearly reason. In the second night in the glass house, she could not sleep until the sun rises. She and Shadow as their dog tried to find signal to call Paul who had a meeting in his office but he could not come rapidly because of the distance between the office and the glass house need time for a night. A mysterious case she experienced when she arrived on sand plain. She came back eventually and met someone whom she presumed a park ranger, Jeremy. In unconscious condition because her head stroked stone when she fell, he brought her back home.

This movie pointed out how lucid dreaming or sleep paralyse happen on unintended situation. According to Vaughan Bell (2014), “It is caused by neurons in the brainstem those block signals from the action-generating areas in the brain to the spinal nerves and muscles.” The man whom was met by Anna in his home, after she was threatened by “020312” graffiti which was scrawl on the glass house wall, said that an apparition could replace soul to control body if she accepted their influence without little rejection ever. After killing Jeremy, she also killed the paranormal when he diagnosed her by examine and practice lucid dreaming; both of these cases are out of her conscious.

As Bell on his article, to diagnose lucid dreaming is to practice it with some ways to record the data. Unfortunately, Anna met with Vera Palm who obsessed her. A riveting part I watched was her anxious to find out how could it has been. Her feeling was a control itself. On another hand, to know is to control all of probability for staying stable, even though she disclosed some information about Vera Palm. She knew that Vera was an architect who built the glass house. This information guided her to uncover whom Vera’s killer is. So even the lucid dreaming process she experienced was hazardous, she could collect some evidence to reveal anything about Vera’s killing. She could benefit on another side under unstable control yet by serious effort.

Vera Palm exactly was wife of Paul. On his narration about her, she was unsuccessful architect who obsess to their glass house in Joshua Tree. Day-to-day, Paul felt she did not care about him. When she wish Paul came in ceremony for their glass house, she got an accident which made her eyes were blind. Paul said she spent his money and time until he decided to leave her near salt lake at sand plain.

From the above, sleep paralyses totally could be explained and examined with scientifically process and dream correlates with whether consciousness or unconsciousness. Lucid dreaming as a process of unconscious action when sleeping could be controlled.
